Happy unofficial summer everyone! Hope this newsletter finds you well as we trade our boots for flip flops.
Diane Harris is our newest Regional Rep!
We are thrilled to announce that Diane has agreed to become our newest regional rep working to help grow and cultivate our art quilt community in Northern New England.
Diane lives in Monroe NH and is an award- winning art quilter. Her most recent honor (and there are many of them) was placing third in the National Quilt Museum’s 25th Anniversary Exhibit, The Gala of the Unexpected! with Oyster Mushrooms - Earthy Elegance, a stunning representational quilt featuring these edible mushrooms.
When asked why she became a rep, Diane’s reply was, “For me, participating fully in an organization, provides the best experience with that organization. So here I am, participating fully! One of my concerns is members needing to travel long distances to attend our regional meetings, so they don’t come. It is my hope we can entice our members to attend these meetings where they can socialize, exchange ideas, network and take advantage of “community” opportunities. As we strive to meet the needs for the region’s members, they will discover how building momentum on this premise will allow them to more fully experience and enjoy all that SAQA has to offer resulting in their growth as artists. An added benefit to our members connecting, will result in the ME/NH/VT Region becoming strong and active.”
Do you know what you’re creating for our Next Exhibit: Wicked Good Art?
Have you decided what totally wicked art you are going to create for our 2017 exhibit – Wicked Good Art? We can’t wait to see what you submit.
The exhibit is designed to showcase the region’s best work, highlighting diversity of style and techniques used by New England SAQA artists. The exhibit will be shown at MQX 2017 and Mancuso’s World Quilt New England, 2017. Additional venues may be added. Online entry will be January 2017. Click on the link to access the prospectus with all the details: http://www.saqa.com/calendar-detail.php?ID=5023
