....... Six of the quilts on view are among the “Top 100 Quilts of the 20th Century,” a prestigious list compiled in 1999 by four nonprofit quilting organizations. One of the 19th-century quilts — a crazy quilt created as a coffin cover — is so delicate that the black silk along its scalloped edges has begun to disappear. Not so the tradition of quiltmaking, though it has come so far from its origins.
