I'm attaching a picture of me by my quilts at the Seacoast Area Fiber Artists exhibit at the Portsmouth Public Library. The exhibit "Series of Three" ends this Thursday November 29. Thanks! Maryann Reminder:
I have had the privilege and pleasure of serving as one of your regional reps for the past three years. It was an honor to be a part of this dynamic team! Getting to know them and meeting and sharing with other art quilters has been the best part of my experience. Especially appreciate those that have been so generous in organizing events and opening their homes to us.
It is now time for me to step down and give someone else a chance. Many thanks and a BIG WELCOME to Michele O'Neil Kincaid for joining Beth and Margaret as our VT/NH/ME SAQA representatives!
What do our SAQA reps do for us? Among other things, they promote SAQA throughout the region, keep our membership informed of events in the area, and facilitate opportunities for members to gather. I plan on staying involved, and realize that I don't have to be a rep in order to do that. I encourage any of you who have given some thought to becoming more involved in SAQA to explore the idea further. SAQA provides excellent support, leadership and numerous opportunities.
Creare is one of the more contemporary businesses in the Upper Valley in NH. They enjoy hosting revolving art shows in their hallways. This past Thursday evening, I attended the opening reception for a quilt show now on display there. Local quilters, traditional and modern alike, have annually hung their work in the hallways for over seventeen years! The Creare employees really look forward to the warmth, color and innovation of the display each year!
SAQA members, Janet Daniels, Sonja Hakala, Margaret Sheehan and Michelle Goldsmith have work in this show along with several other local quilters.
Michelle Goldsmith displayed 5 of her large finished art pieces (the ones she showed unfinished at the Maine Show and Tell) and two smaller pieces. Her work is quite wonderful! I love the larger scale! I took a moment to get a picture with Michelle in front of two of her pieces.
I also want to mention that Sonja Hakala has a small fern stamped wall hanging in this show. It is the first time she is selling a quilt and the proceeds will go to the Parkinson's Comfort Quilt Project which she founded.
Great Show Ladies!
It is with great pleasure that Beth Berman and I announce our new SAQA ME/NH/VT representative (and fellow Wild Woman of the North!) Michele O'Neil Kincaid. WELCOME Michele! She will be replacing our fearless VT comrade, Susan Balch.
A GREAT BIG Thank you to Susan, who was so fantastic in representing us for three years. We will miss her leadership but look forward to her active participation in all our future SAQA events.
Susan, enjoy your new found studio time and continue to flourish creatively!

Meet the artist Friday November 9, 12:00-5:00 pm
This solo showing of Strafford, NH fiber artist Michele O’Neil Kincaid’s collection of nature inspired art quilts gathers together her myriad images, from a single day lily (32” x 37”) to a pair of snow shoes with a winter scene inside. Through the two month show she will be rotating and adding to the 30 plus piece. Michele is known for her use of vibrant colors and rich textural techniques. In the 30 years she has been practicing her art, she has grown from geometric patchwork to photo like images of nature and intricate abstract explorations. She bills herself as “A traditional Quilter run AMOK!” and loves a challenge.
Come meet Michele O'Neil Kincaid on Friday November 9th from 12:00 - 5:00 pm in the Conservation Building conference room of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests at 54 Portsmouth St. Concord, NH 03301.
