Holiday Greetings to all my SAQA friends!

Here's a challenge:
For 2012, make a resolution to be more active with SAQA in what ever way you can!
Take BABY STEPS! Like... come to a parlor meeting and meet the members that make this organization so amazing! Donate a little pocket money to support SAQA's growth which ultimately benefits you! Become a PAM, enter a show, donate a 12" x 12" block for the Auction or write a small blurb to post on the blog. I hope you will attend the September weekend, too!
Whatever you decide, keep on being the creative person that you are!  It is the vibrancy of our members that make us strong!

Stay Warm!  I look forward to seeing you again (or meeting you!) sometime in 2012!

Cheers!  ~Margaret

Masters Art Quilts Vol.2

Elizabeth Barton has written a comprehensive review of the book, Masters Art Quilts Vol.2. I was very excited to get my copy of this book for two reasons. The first was that I had bought the first volume and I loved the in depth look at each quilt artist. The second reason was the the publishing company, Lark, had donated 400 copies of this book to SAQA with all the proceeds of the sales to stay with SAQA. Wow. What a win/win. So now I have my copy of the book and SAQA has a nice donation. Check out the blog review and perhaps pick up a copy from the SAQA bookstore.

Elizabeth Busch

I've been working on this commission for the Scientific Laboratory of the State of New Mexico for over a year. These are a few of the 11 pieces that will create a 65' wide landscape in the public lobby of this new building.

The materials are painted and woven acetate combined with digital microscopic cell images to create a continuous landscape of NM. Titled Outside, Inside, it is about personal and visual landscape.

Installation in Albuquerque will be the first week of January.
Once that's done, I will get back to quilting and teaching in 2012 at Allegre Retreat, CO; Haystack Mtn. School of Craft, ME; Quilting by the Lake, NY.

Happy holidays!
Elizabeth Busch
